Kingdom of Acorn Armory

Description

This represents a small but well established look into how the Kingdom of Acorn outfits its military. Many of these weapons were originally developed to fight the Overlanders in the Great War from 3220 to 3225, but nowadays these tools of war are used against the unliving robots developed by the former Warmaster of the Kingdom, Julian Kintobor. More recently, UEG weaponry has been injected into the ranks which may mean that a lot of this loadout may be subject to change in the future with many weapons being immediately made obsolete by advanced Human designs. The descriptions are from left to right, top to bottom.

KK22 SRS - Chambered in .300 Royal Magnum

A standard bolt action rifle with a sleek profile, the KK22 Sniper Rifle System saw use over fifty years before the Great War, but its recoil mitigation kept it as part of the Kingdom's arsenal. It features a free floating 1:16 twist barrel to keep the bullet on target. The .300 Royal Magnum is a heavy round that can defeat Overlander flak jackets as well as the relatively thin exterior of Julian Kintobor's robots. Distinctive for its stock which absorbs much of the recoil already defeated by the free-floating design.

KK15 SAS - Chambered in 10 Gauge

The KK15 Semi-Automatic Shotgun is a departure from well-established lines of pump-actions that have seen use with the Kingdom for centuries. This model though has seen continued use especially in the post-war environment on starships thanks to lack of penetration power on the 000 buckshot shells. The user loads forwards through a loading gate directly into the magazine where the semi-automatic action draws the shell into the lift to chamber the shell. The weapon is recoil operated, meaning the potential energy from the shell drives the bolt back where the lift cams and pivots, extracting the shell, while its forward motion extracts another from the follower and back into the chamber. The KK15 features a rear-mounted charging handle that does not reciprocate, similar to many other Knothole Armories weapons.

KK M18 Rifle - Chambered in .308 Monarch

A common sight on the battlefield with an iconic silhouette. The M18, joint developed by Colt Mobius was based on the ancient AR15 platform of weapons. This weapon is truly ancient in its foundation with the first models of the M18 being developed less than fifty years after planet fall of the Terra Novan ancients in the 23rd Century. The weapon dates back to the Interplanetary War when the descendant of the current AR15 platform saw service alongside its eventual replacement, the MA5 series of rifles. The Kingdom faithfully kept and updated the design while keeping the general shape. It is chambered in .308 caliber which has proved effective against body armor and robots alike. Virtually all branches of the Royal Military field the M18 with numerous submodels being used by select groups with some closely resembling the AR15 while others stray from the model, with a far more noticeable gas tube above the barrel. It features a non-reciprocating charging handle that is pulled back upon chambering the first round. Many models are flat tops with a stock carrying handle serving as iron sights. Also, unlike the AR15 of old, the M18 utilizes a collapsing bolt, which allows for the stock to be folded if need by as no buffer tube extends past the firing mechanism.

KK M18B - Chambered in .308 Monarch

The bullpup version of the M18 rifle. This weapon features an overall shorter profile, although the barrel length is the same 16 inches as the stock model. Also like the stock model, the M18B uses the same collapsing bolt to allow for the mechanism to function in the back of the rifle. It is also just as compact as its larger brother with a twin push-bolt takedown mechanism where barrel and bolt can be swapped out within seconds with a practiced hand. Unlike the M18, the M18B uses flip sights instead of the fixed front wedge. This makes it easier to store, though some believe the heavier weight of the M18 is a plus in the longer weapon's favor. Otherwise, this gun is identical in many of its other respects.

KK24 - Chambered in .45 AUTO

A ubiquitous handgun that sees use from street constables to military operators, the KK24 packs an amazing punch for something its size. It is a recoil operated weapon functions by having the back half of the weapon cycle, ejecting the spent round while chambering another. Interestingly, the weapon seems to function and even appears similar to the M6 series of pistol, even though development of the KK24 occurred within the last ten years with older models of the weapon mainly being used for law enforcement personnel. The weapon is remarkably simple with little difficulty to operate. In fact, after Julian Kintobor's coup in 3225, rebel resistance groups continued to use these weapons in hit and run missions against the larger robot forces. However, the recoil has been noted to be strong for the gun with a heavier trigger pull to fire a round. Newer models do not have a slide catch, instead only requiring a light pull to unlock the slide.

Dunwich 10 Submachine Gun - Chambered in 9mm Parabellum

This weapon has been noted to turn heads and is the black sheep of the Knothole Military's armament. The unorthodox looking gun, developed by the Dunwich Firearms Corporation is noted for being amazingly sturdy and strong with the gun surviving several shock tests from heights of up to twenty stories, even with the magazine in the weapon. The Dunwich 10 uses a rotary diopter sight which can be sighted for three hundred meters, though optics can be attached into an upper rail. The bolt of the weapon is exposed on the top of the weapon which fires from the closed position. On the front of the weapon, the integrated muzzle brake assists with accuracy at the same time diverting muzzle flash to keep the shooter's target clear. The weapon loads from a stick magazine that can load 35 rounds standard, but can also load a fifty round drum, which has given it the rather intentional nickname the "Knothole Typewriter". Unfortunately, the Dunwich 10 is rather expensive, with one weapon costing nearly as much as an M18. The justification for cost appears to come from the fact that the weapon can fire in full automatic. As a result, it is mainly used for urban combat and sees nearly as much use with Police Special Response Teams. In addition to its cost, it is heavy, with the weight of the gun itself helping to absorb a lot of the recoil.

Norton CMP 7 - Chambered in 7.62mm Manning

The Combat Machine Pistol 7 is a slight misnomer as the bullet is slightly larger than the title would suggest. This weapon is the only part of the standard military loadout that fires from the open bolt position. The reasoning for the different design decision is that the forward motion of the bolt helps mitigate recoil as the timing on the bolt ensures that the majority of the mass slides into place once the next round fires. The user is required to lock the bolt open on the next magazine which is loaded through the grip of the gun. The CMP 7 also features a retractable stock which can increase the total length of the weapon. The CMP 7 also features a folding foregrip. Vehicle crews tend to use this as personal protection while on long trips without backup.

These look badass! :D

I've come up with lore ideas for the KOA Armed forces' weaponry and related subjects in order to somehow keep them unique from G.U.N's equipment. For example, Ring-Casings for bullets rather than tubular cartridges traditionally found in many firearms and the historical firearms such as muskets, arquebuses and blunderbusses did not have casings so they had to load in lead balls and black powder prior to firing. Also "Recoil Killer Rings" that completely dampens the recoil to basically nothing so it makes firearm use a lot more convenient but a steady grip is still relied on to fire. Ring-Silencers are basic magical rings that mute the gun as inserted on to the barrel and does not extend the barrel as it would interfere with the silenced gun's concealment.

Some of the (Elite or not) KOA military units may practice Dual wielding of compact firearms or the slang, "Guns Akimbo". For the Mobians, they could actually do it better than a human could because a human has to deal with both sight alignments while dual wielding firearms and also needs to find out a proper and safe way to reload (at least there are a couple of proper ways to do it).
